In this post I share a few information about Kota Kinabalu and the region around. There are beautiful beaches and I chose it mainly, in order to escape the heavy rainy season on Langkawi Island, where usually everybody is going to for beaches. However, what should I say.....I had rain every single day, too. Haha :)

Kota Kinabalu is located on a big island called Borneo. Borneo actually consist out of three countries: parts of Malaysia, parts of Indonesia, and the country Brunei.

The part of the island where Kota Kinabalu lies, is called Sabah.

If you are traveling from other parts of Borneo, such as Sarawak or Brunei, you can take long-distance buses to Kota Kinabalu. The journey can be lengthy, but it offers a scenic view of the Borneo landscape. Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) is well-connected with direct flights from major cities in Malaysia (e.g., Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru) as well as international destinations like Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, Manila, and various cities in China.
